Trowbridge & Trowbridge Vice Presidents Contribute to Industry Dialogue

McLean, VA, Oct. 20, 2016 – Trowbridge & Trowbridge LLC contributed to two important industry discussions in September. Vice President of Defense Programs Greg Price participated in a Tech Town Hall meeting at the beginning of the month, and Sr. VP of Strategy and Development, Gregg Melanson chaired a symposium on Machine Learning in the middle of September.

On September 1, Price participated on a panel in the upper Midwest for the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce. The panel was gathered to discuss innovation and growth in regional industry sectors, the greatest opportunities and challenges for tech companies in Illinois and Iowa, and how STEM efforts and partnering with educational institutions might be able to address the increasing shortage of skilled tech workers in the region.

“We’re honored to have a voice in these important industry discussions and look forward to fostering on-going dialogue with the agencies we serve, potential teaming partners, and other growing businesses,” said Trowbridge President and CEO, Karen Trowbridge.

On September 15, Melanson chaired an ACT-IAC symposium on Cognitive Computing, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning. As the Industry Chair for the event, Melanson was able to help other attendees understand the concepts and emerging challenges inherent in these new technologies. The panel was comprised of significant industry thought leaders from government and industry. The Keynote speaker was data scientist, Dr. Kirk Borne. Also participating were Dr. Camron Gorguinpour, Dr. David Gohlke, Dr. Ryan Kerrekes, and Dr. Philip Bingham.

The purpose of the symposium was to provide a forum for information sharing and collaboration between government, academia, and industry participants. Ultimately the workgroup established at the symposium hopes to advise and promote recommended frameworks and best practices for these technologies throughout the industry. Specific topics included acquisition reform, concerns people may have with being replaced by technology, standardizing nomenclature, and change management within the industry, along with relevant methodologies and modeling.
